The 2026-2028 FamilyU Cohort
In August 2026, Generation Hope announced the expansion of FamilyU with six new higher education partners and introduced a new dual-track strategy for supporting institutions. As part of this approach, we’re partnering with Jeremiah Program to launch a regional cohort that will support colleges across Minnesota and North Dakota.

North Dakota State University
Established in 1890 as North Dakota's only land-grant institution, is a leading R1 research university in Fargo serving 11,952 students (fall 2025) through 223 degree programs — 103 undergraduate majors and 120 graduate programs. For student parents, NDSU offers on-campus Wellness Center Child Care, connections to regional childcare assistance and Head Start scholarships, and free parenting education through NDSU Extension.
Los Angeles Mission College
Established in 1975 as part of the Los Angeles Community College District, serves approximately 12,400 students on its campus in the Sylmar neighborhood of Los Angeles. It offers associate degrees, certificates, and transfer pathways across fields like business, health sciences, and liberal arts, with a strong focus on affordability, small class sizes, and support services such as tutoring and transfer assistance for its majority Hispanic/Latino student population.
San Diego City College
Established in 1914 as part of the San Diego Community College District, serves roughly 14,800 students on its urban campus in downtown San Diego. It offers associate degrees and certificates in 73+ fields, along with strong transfer pathways to four-year universities, and supports students through programs like the Puente Project, EOPS, and the San Diego Promise, which covers up to two years of free tuition for eligible first-time students.
Coppin State University
Established in 1900 and a member of the University System of Maryland, is a public HBCU located in Baltimore. It serves approximately 2,210 students (fall 2024) across 53 academic programs—including bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees—with particular strength in nursing, teacher education, criminal justice, and business. CSU offers flexible day, evening, and weekend classes along with distance learning options, serving Baltimore residents and students from around the world.
Minnesota State University Moorhead
Established in 1887 and part of the Minnesota State system, serves approximately 4,700 students on its 119-acre campus in Moorhead, just across the Red River from Fargo. It offers 73 majors, 15 graduate degrees, and numerous certificate and teacher-licensure programs, with recognized strength in education, nursing, and business. MSUM is known for small class sizes, strong faculty-student mentorship, and affordability through programs like the North Star Promise scholarship.
Minnesota State Community and Technical College
Formed in 2003 M State, serves more than 9,000 students annually across its Moorhead, Fergus Falls, Detroit Lakes, and Wadena campuses plus its eCampus. It offers 70+ career and liberal arts programs—including nursing, business, and unique offerings like electrical line worker and equine science—leading to associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates, with a focus on affordability, transfer pathways, and hands-on, real-world training.
